整个系列主要以动物为主题，故事篇幅比较短，基本上就是全彩图片加上简单的一句话。虽然句式在重复，但因为涉及不同场景，词汇却很丰富。这一点和RAZ很像，所以小读者系列也被称为学乐版Raz。
