The Floor is a physical, trivia quiz show that sees 81 contestants face off in quiz duels on a giant LED floor divided into a hundred equal squares, each representing its own field of knowledge.

The first challenger, selected at random, must choose one of his or her neighbouring opponents to go head-to-head in an epic quiz duel in the opponent's category. The winner takes over the loser's square, gaining valuable ground as they expand their territory, while the loser exits the game. The winner must then choose - do they continue on and attempt to secure another square? Or do they let The Floor choose a new challenger? The last contestant standing who gains full control over The Floor takes home a life-changing $250,000 cash prize.

The rules of this game are simple: average Americans are abandoned in the middle of some of the most unforgiving places on earth. Divided into teams, they particiapte in challenges and every three days, the losing tribe must trek to Tribal Council to vote out one of their own. Halfway through the game, the game shifts to individual competitions when the tribes merge and become one, making the game every man for himself.

The game is simple: Outwit, Outplay, Outlast, by winning Immunity, thus not being eligible to have votes cast against yourself. Stephen Colbert, the host, writer and executive producer of the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning "The Colbert Report", succeeds David Letterman as the host of "The Late Show". Stephen has been given near-full control of the show, with little interference from CBS management in regard to format.

Colbert will be bringing most of his staff from "The Colbert Report" with him to "Late Show", as well as outsiders such as Brian Stack, who is best known for his work on Conan O'Brien's programs. Jonathan Batiste and the "Stay Human" band joins "The Late Show" as the show's house band.
